We believe in "plotting goodness" with other communities...

Raising Micah is one of the co-conspirators of Conspire magazine. Check out www.conspiremagazine.com. Contact us for a free hard copy of the quarterly magazine.

We are in joint ministry with Lifesong Christian Communities of Newbury Park, CA, www.lifesongchristiancommunities.com.

We're big believers in camping and retreat ministries. We are connected to El Camino Pines Bible Camp in Frazier Park, CA (www.lrcchome.com) and Lake Wapogasset Bible Camp in Amery, WI (www.campwapo.org).

We appreciate the work of Vibrant Faith Ministries (www.vibrantfaith.org) in Bloomington, MN that strives to help equip parents, families, and churches in the faith formation of children and youth.

We believe that digging in the dirt and growing plants is good for both the bodies and souls of families.

We have a backyard community garden in Thousand Oaks, CA.  Join us for on our garden gatherings (see Retreats, Trips, & Experiences). Or contact us if you want to stop by and pick a flower or a veggie, ask us a question (that we may or may not be able to answer as we are definitely learners in this) or walk through the garden prayer path.

We are inspired by Barbara Kingsolver's book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle (www.animalvegetablemiracle.com).  We also love the work of Wendell Berry, who weaves together faith, food, and farming.

As we are learning the art of homesteading, we find the book The Backyard Homestead to be very practical and helpful.

We believe in looking to the left and to the right as we try to find our way down the road of faith, culture, and politics.

Each day we read news from Sojourner's at www.sojo.net and Crosswalk at www.crosswalk.com.

We believe in the importance of practicing spiritual disciplines such as prayer, study, worship, tithing, fasting, and service.

We love the book Habits of a Child's Heart by Marty Garret and Valerie Hess that talks about the spiritual disciplines and then gives practical ideas on how parents can live out the disciplines with preschoolers, elementary children, and teens.

We believe in serving both local and global neighbors.

We encourage you and your faith community to learn about your local needs and resources.  If you need help on where to start, give us a call.

In global ministries, we appreciate the work of so many, but feel a special connection to World Vision (www.worldvision.org), UMCOR (http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor), and Lutheran World Relief (www.lwr.org).

We believe in living in rhythm to the church year

We love the work of Tara Malouf who has put together a unique calendar and thoughts about placing our time in God's time; see www.storyformed.wordpress.com.
